What's My Ring Size ?

What’s my Ring Size?

© Ray Booth 2012

Ring sizes are expressed in both Alphabetical and Numerical formats; depending on which Country you are in.
C, for children or super petite women, is about the smallest. They progress up to Z-6 for huge men. Half sizes in the numerical system exist, but Ray finds the Alpha system to be more logically comprehensive, so that’s the one he works in.
If you have a ring that fits, you can measure the Inside Diameter and use that, but accuracy is really important here because of the Pi calculation. Then consult the table below to determine the size of the ring.

A simple method to find your ring size. Take a piece of sewing thread (not string; you wont get an accurate result) wrap it round the finger you wish to size. Don’t wind it too tight, remember the ring has to slide over the knuckle later. With a fine felt tip pen, mark the thread in a straight line, across the threads where they overlap. You can also record the Knuckle measurement but this time the thread is allowed to be tighter.
Lay the thread flat and straight, beside a rule and record the measurement in millimeters. then consult the Circumference column in the table below, then look to the alphabetical column to the Left. this is Your Ring Size for the finger just measured.

THIS is also a Ring Size comparison Table
that serves as a guide to assist; between international standards
True scientific accuracy is not the aim in this table.
Measurements were taken from a plastic ring gauge and circumferences were calculated using Pi to the 3rd decimal.
That's good enough for finding a ring size for the purposes of buying one; or commissioning the production of a ring to be made.
